Dr. D Ramanathan by taking special interest in overcoming the sole necessity of drinking water requirements in village where his factory is located, he has given two cents of land to the Panchayat free of cost and constructed a water tank and is maintaining the same at his cost. This philanthropic effort of Dr.Ramanathan could set the problem of drinking water faced by more than 1000 families in this village.
Dr. Ramanathan in spite of his busy schedule finds time to read extensively and is fond of traveling.
Considering his meritorious service to the lions cause for the past 25 years, Dr.D.Ramanathan was elected as District Governor of District 324 E2 of the Lions Clubs International.
After election to the prestigious position of District Governor Ln. Dr D Ramanathan submitted a detailed Waste Disposal Project proposal to Hon’ble Mayor of Trichur Corporation for waste disposal (Animal waste as well as Plant waste) and producing from the same the much required electricity/manure useful to the human cause/agriculture.
Lion Dr. D Ramanathan has got repeated appreciation for his meritorious services during his 25 years of association with this international body for welfare activities connected to the depressed and destitute of the society. He is also the recipient of prestigious appreciation in Lionism i.e.*Lion of the year* award.
Dr. D Ramanathan during his tenure as the District Governor, initiated the Free Autorickshaw Driving Training program for 11 needy women in cooperation with the DIC of Thrissur. He also began proceedings in getting loans for these women under the PMRY scheme to buy auto rickshaws. More than this, Dr. Ramanathan’s initiative to register all the lions clubs under the Society Charitable Act proved his ability in preparing for the future.His excellent leadership quality is evident from District 324 E2 being awarded the Best District Award for the year 2005-2006by the International Association of Lions Clubs at the International Academy Awards.
During his Governorship, lionism and its service activities were spread to the nook and corner of the 3 districts. His amazing dedication caught the attention of the higher authorities of this World organisation and 13 International dignitaries visited the district that year.
Dr. D Ramanathan is married to Ln.Valli Ramanathan. Their eldest son Dr. Vignesh Devaraj is doing his MD and younger daughter Ms.Janani Ramanathan is pursuing CA.
